FitFlop European Launch

Two years ago, Marcia Kilgore launched FitFlops, the thigh-shaping sandals with revolutionary Micro-wobbleboard™ technology. They have since sold more than 5 million pairs.

Scientifically developed by expert bio-mechanists at the Centre for Human Performance at London's South Bank University, FitFlops load your leg muscles while you're wearing them. In clinical testing, wearing FitFlops has been show to trigger significantly increased gluteal muscle, hamstring and muscle response. The micro-wobbleboard™ technology in the FitFlop was developed by Dr. David Cook & Darren James at the Centre for Human Performance at London South Bank University.

THE CLIENT’S TARGETS
When FitFlop decided that the time was right to hit the rest of the world with their fabulous new Autumn / Winter footwear range, a serious point of consideration was the translation of marketing and technical text. Like many companies when marketing abroad, it’s not just about black and white text that appears on a page. FitFlop have a fabulously innovative and scientific product, combined with a contemporary and quirky brand that truly speaks to its target market. FitFlop are quite rightly very proud of the relationship they have built up with their customers who undoubtedly feel that FitFlop understand their needs and ‘speaks their language’. Therefore, finding the appropriate translator when moving into new markets is the most crucial of steps!

What we did:

  • Pitched our company to the client in a two minute phone call, covering all salient points and winning them over!
  • Assigned an experienced Project Manager to be on hand to answer any queries, make suggestions and ensure total satisfaction upon delivery.
  • Sourced 5 different linguists (5 different languages) who understand the complex and subtle nature of marketing text and who could deliver the translations quickly.
  • Took the client’s original artwork (English), insert the translations, provided proofreading, etc. and returned it to the client in a ‘print-ready’ state.
  • Ensure that distributor’s comments (if any) are discussed and a satisfactory conclusion arrived at.
  • Managed the whole process on time and in budget.
